UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI)

Are you aware of the changes to training for 2015?

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a new Australia-wide student number which will introduce the capacity for students to track their training records across all Australian states and territories. USI requirements will come into effect from the start of 2015.

What does that mean for me as a student?

Your USI will help keep your training records and results together in an online account controlled by you.

Each time you enrol to study with a new training organisation, your USI will be used to store your training records and results.

By having a USI you will be able to access your training records and results (or transcript) whenever you need them. For example, for a new employer or when you enrol to study at a new training organisation.

Your USI can be accessed online from your computer, tablet or smart phone and gives you access to your training records and results at your fingertips.

What do I need to do?

Visit the USI website: http://usi.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx and have one of the following forms of ID handy:

a. Driver’s Licence

b. Medicare Card

c. Australian Passport

d. Visa (with Non-Australian Passport) for international students

e. Birth Certificate (Australian) *please note a Birth Certificate extract is not sufficient

f. Certificate Of Registration By Descent

g. Citizenship Certificate

h. ImmiCard

Once you have been allocated your USI number then you can register for training with any Registered Training Organisations.

IMPORTANT!
From January 1 2015 you will not be able to receive recognition for your training from any Registered Training Organisation if you do not have a USI.
